Presentation and background

In almost 30 years since the company was founded, BMTI has become a leader in its main business activity:
  • Composite materials and parts for submarine applications.
  • Antennas and antenna systems for military submarine and surface vessels.

     




1982 :
BMTI was founded. The business began with the production of technical parts using composite materials and polymers.
1985 :
BMTI acquired joint expertise in radio and composite materials and entered the market for antennas for military surface vessels. Over the following years, the company produced more than 1,000 HF whip antennas of 6 m and 10 m.
1987 :
BMTI became a public limited company and incorporated electronics into its materials for the first time. The company broadened its range, studying and designing complete antenna systems and developing specific tailor-made products.
1989 :
To cope with the increasing demand, BMTI moved into its current premises (1,000 m2 built on a plot of 2,800 m2 - 200 m2 area of offices and laboratories and 800 m2 area of workshops).
1995 :
BMTI is geared towards the submarine applications niche and markets radomes for extreme depths (1,000 m).
1999 :
Development of formulations and marketing of composite materials dedicated to submarine applications (syntactic foam) and production of buoyancy parts and structural parts for up to -8,000 m.
2002 :
BMTI combined its traditional expertise in marine radio communication systems and its recently acquired knowledge of submarine materials to produce its first submarine communication systems (buoys, antenna masts, etc.).
2006 :
BMTI joined the French group ALCEN, in order to further its development strategy and to guarantee its clients the lasting success of the company.
2009 :
BMTI is continuing to develop, constantly conducting fundamental research, which allows the company and its clients to benefit from important technological advances. The company takes great interest in the leading markets of deep-water mining and petroleum exploration.
